Password reset disk

A few months ago I helped an elderly relative make a password reset disk
that he still has. In the meantime, he changed his password. He restarted
his computer today and cannot remember the new password. Can he use the
original reset disk to get back into his computer using the original
password? I'll be able to help him because I remember the password we used
when we made the disk.
