Screensaver Never Starts on Windows XP

Hi,

I've installed Windows XP Proffesional on my machine and for some
reason the screen saver (and power management) never works.
I've checked the registry entries and they are fine. The screen saver
is the default Windows XP logo screen saver.

It seems that when running in safe mode the screen saver does run.
I've also noticed that the MSN messenger always shows "Online" even if
the machine is idle.

So my feeling is that some process is keeping my machine busy, so it
never "thinks" it is idle.
Does any one have any idea what to look for?

Thanks,
Yoav

Hi,

You're thinking is correct, but you need to isolate the application or
process that is causing it. The steps here can help:

Hi,

Thanks very much for the help!!

I used the msconfig utility and found the problem (in my case it was
the PowerDvd Remote Control service which kept the system from
sleeping).
