screen shrink problem

I have a dell notebook inspiron b130. It has the 17" wide screen panel. I
have had an issue where the screen cuts off approximatly 1.5" on each side fo
the screen and it is blacked out. I do not know what caused this and have
tried some of the basic things in the control panel to change the view, and
it hasn't changed anything. I wanted to see if anyone has had this problem
or would know how to fix this issue?

Any help is appreciated.
