screen saver password question

I set my screen saver so that it will ask for a password before resuming back
to my desktop; however, even though it said my screen saver password would be
the same as my log in password, whenever I try it fails, and I need to shut
down and reboot. Is there a reason it's doing this, and does anyone know how
I can fix it?

I have never heard of or seen that. Try changing your password to see if
that makes a difference and make sure you do not have caps lock on. Also
look in the security log via Event Viewer to see if any logon failures are
recorded are recorded at the time you are attempting to unlock the computer
and the failure eve may give more information on the reason. If you are
using XP Pro you can use Local Security Policy to verify that auditing of
logon events is enabled. --- Steve

enable auditing and it applies to XP Pro also.
