Screen Saver intermittent

From time to time I have to deal with other things and have set my computer to
switch off the display after 10 minutes of inactivity.

However for a very long time this switching has been intermittent. It did not
matter too much as the old monitor had come close to end of life.

It has now been replaced by a new LaCie and I am now fussy and need to have that
switch off when I leave the computer unattended for more than 10 minutes.

In the time with the old display, I have had 2-3 clean installs so it cannot be
just the OS.

I should be glad to hear from someone who knows how to make that function
dependable.

Its 'possible' that a mobo bios update might help

Also make sure you have the latest drivers installed for both the graphics
adapter and monitor. Available the hardware manufacturer's web site.

I had installed the new adapter with the correct CD but thought it worthwhile to
try again. This time instead of using Autostart on the CD, I went straight to
the 2K and looked for the setup.
So far it has worked well today. Lots of times away from computer to look for
mopping up and other things to do with the weather.

Everything is working as specified except the FTP Server. Been on the
iinetserver.iis but getting an answer from them is like getting blood from a
stone.
