screen saver doesnt start...

I am going crazy with a clients XP SP2 laptop (IBM T30) where the
scree saver wont start. Doesnt matter which screen saver I choose, it
just wont start any of them.

I have tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916256/en-us but no luck
I have ran spyware and virus scan and comes up clean...any ideas?

See if this applies:

The screen saver does not work when you use a Wireless Optical Desktop mouse
on a Windows XP SP2-based computer:

If not, you may have to isolate the problem by clean-booting the system.
