Screen Saver does not start after specified time

Hey guys, Your help here would be appreciated. I've looked all over microsoft
for help on this and could not find the answer I needed. About a week ago,
the screen saver would activate when it was supposed to. I purchased a
wireless keyboard and mouse from Microsoft, and now the screen saver will not
activate at all. I have checked my settings and even ran the preview. It is
set to come on after 10 minuits, however, it never does. Any help would be
appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure the Task Scheduler service is set
to automatic.

Start > Run and type: services.msc , and hit Enter.
Scroll down to the Task Scheduler service.

Or:

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Under the General tab, check "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services",
click "apply" and reboot.

ok, I tried that. It did not help. Any other suggestions? What about a
programming a hot key to start the screen saver when I get up from the
computer? Is that possible?

Have you tried other/various different screensaver(s) - the one you're
using may be corrupted.

Also, try a third-party screensaver program like webshots
http://www.webshots.com/samplers/
or d/l others from www.download.com or www.tucows.com

WARNING : beware of screensaver content files - *.scr files. They can
be the source of viruses!!!!

Wes, That did the trick. Thanks a bunch. I knew I'd find the answer I needed
here. The KB explained exactly what I was experiancing right down to the
computer brand.
Again, Thanks.

Guess what that is your problem You need to use some other wireless
mouse like Logitech. you can manually activate your screen saver by
using windows search engine and serch for *scr
Then copy that to your desktop.

Nice link, Wes.

Next step:

Write a program which locates the offending program (for non-Dell systems).
Ping David :)

The screen saver does not work when you use a Wireless Optical Desktop mouse
on a Windows XP SP2-based computer

I have posted that link twice today. I discovered it about a month ago when
someone else posted it. ;-)

Nah, it's simple, Ramesh.

Nuke any manufacturer's software that comes with any new machine.

Nuke everything but AV, firewall software and cleaner utilities (that run
and quit) from running at boot.

Don't use wireless stuff.

I am partial to wire. :-D
