Screen Saver does not come on

M

mlai

Had been using Vista x64 RTM for 2 months now and all of a sudden, screen
savers refuses to activate after I have been away. And suspending due to
inactivity does not work either. I can still manually activate the screen
savers and manually go into suspend. They just don't do it automatically
anymore.

I have not changed any of the settings. What gives?

I know that with Vista Ultimate RTM x86, if you have a Microsoft Wireless
Laser Mouse 6000 (amongst others, I believe), the screen saver won't
activate under current Microsoft mouse drivers. But, I don't know if that
applies to x64 or why this would happen all of a sudden on your system. No
driver updates or scheduled task changes?

Hello,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Thanks David for his kindly experience sharing. Actually, if you have
installed Microsoft wireless pointing device that uses Microsoft
IntelliPoint software may cause this similar issue. For information, you
may refer to the following article:
911895: The screen saver does not work when you use a Microsoft wireless
pointing device on a Windows XP SP2-based computer

Thanks & Regards,

Ken Zhao

Yes and the article addresses the issue by saying: "There currently is no

Don't forget to tell them what you think about that lack of solution from
the link at the bottom of the KB Article. I let them know I wasn't very
happy risking monitor burn in because they can't get their mouse driver
right. I also mentioned I was going to start looking for a good Logitech
mouse (I've always disliked this Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 --
the keyboard is especially troublesome (dropped keystrokes -- primarily
Shifted ones)).

What kind of monitor are you using that causes you to panic about monitor
screen burn in?

Ah, so this is about my being a lunatic with screw-ball phobias now, is it?

Did I say that?
I don't remember saying that.
But I do remember asking a question.

Monitor burn in hasn't been an issue for a long, long time:

Don't forget to tell them what you think about that lack of solution from
the link at the bottom of the KB Article. I let them know I wasn't very
happy risking monitor burn in because they can't get their mouse driver
right. I also mentioned I was going to start looking for a good Logitech
mouse (I've always disliked this Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 --
the keyboard is especially troublesome (dropped keystrokes -- primarily
Shifted ones)).
