Screen resolution resetting after reboot

Hi all,

I have a xp machine hooked up to my hdtv via dvi cable. Each time that I
restart my machine, the resolution resetts back to 640x480 instead or
1168X680.

Does anyone know why it is doing this? This is off a clean install. I was
also trying to use the program powerstrip, which works, but xp continues to
over ride that program and their settings as well.

Thx in advance.

Any Norton products installed? This behavior is typical of what these
products sometimes do under the guise of "protecting" your system.

Good luck

I have figured it out, and thought I would return here to document it just in
case anyone else in the future has a similar problem.

Because I have hooked my computer upto a HDTV, it required a specific set of
drivers from ATI or Powerstrip. The problem is that Windows was trying to
change to the specific screen resolution prior to the drivers being loaded (I
think), so what I did was is this.

I went to http://www.majorgeeks.com/SetRes_d1425.html and downloaded the
program setres. (Which allows you to create a shortcut to a specific screen
resolution)

Then I went to http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/delayexec/ and
downloaded delayexec. (Which allows you to delay an executable file)

Then I wrote a quick script "C:\Program Files\delayexec.exe" "C:\Program
Files\setres.exe h1152 v648" 50 which delayed the file to load after the
drivers were fully loaded.

Drop me an email if this helps anyone else.

Dawg.
