screen resolution problems

I upgraded from ME to XP and now the XP will not support the 1024 x 768 resolution. I have tried everything that HP have told me to do including updating the drivers, direct X, etc. 800 x 600 is just to hard to work with. Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Are you using the same color depth you had at 1024x768 in WinME? That is -
16 bit versus 32 bit ( 64K colors versus 16 million)? Try reducing color
depth and see if you can then get the higher resolution.

How much video memory do you have - this is especially limiting on lower end
PCs with video integrated on the motherboard.

If integrated video, double check in the BIOS that maximum shared memory is
allocated to the video.
