Screen Resolution Problem

I

Irene Gaffigan

On my dell laptop I cannot change the screen resolution on the desktop. I
assumed it was spyware (system was sluggish, etc). We reinstalled Windows
XP and all was well until a couple of days ago - then had the same problems.
The icons and fonts on the desktop are very small, Internet Explorer is not
full screen. I called Dell and after 2 hours, they determined it was the
operating system and I would have to reinstall it. We had done this already
and it seemed a waste.

I tried to follow the instructions to do Windows XP repair, but that didn't
work, since it asked for a password - I do not use any passwords on my
laptop.

I cannot figure out what to do next - I just want the computer to work the
way it before.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

Irene

Hi Irene,
Have you installed Spybot 1.3 or Adaware 6 ? Or done a free Virus scan from
many online places. If not just Google search for these things and install
them. They will hopefully get rid of the Malware,Spyware etc.
After you installed XP again how long was it before it got 'sluggish' again?
Do you have a Firewall?

Hi,

I have NOrton Internet security which includes Norton Virus (I always have
Norton running). I also used Adaware and ran it. It was probably a few
weeks before acting strangely again. I hadn't used it for a week or so. I
have the Windows firewall running.
