A friend is suffering from macular degeneration and cannot use her computer
without some sort of magnification.

She currently has Win98 installed. Does the magnifier in WinXP offer any
advantages over the one in Win98?

Or...any suggestions for a good utility that can help her.

Thanks....

What does she use her computer for? I've got eye problems and get by with
holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling with my mouse wheel to make the text
bigger. I believe that Ctrl and the + or - keys will work also - yes it
does, just tried it while typing this :)

Good Luck!

Your suggestion does not work on all web pages. Then there's the problem of
finding the scroll bars to navigate around the page. She needs a really
high magnification for her to find the scroll bars.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do appreciate it.

I am also a low-vision person, but can function with changes in
standard Settings and by wearing an Opti-Visor. In my contacts with
others of much worse vision than myself, the features provided in
Windows Accessibility do NOT provide he necessary functionality.

If you can contact me via e-mail at my provided address, I can provide
some excellent resources for your firend to check out not only for her
computer needs, but also for her everyday reading. No, I do not sell
anything, nor do I get referral incentives. I have been legally blind
since 1991, have gone through the agony of not being able to see, and
have learned to cope with the problem. I do counselling locally with
other persons newly diagnosed with various vision problems. Someone
helped me back in 1002-93 and only asked that I help someone else as
payment. So please have her or yourself contact me.
