screen magnifier question

anon

I hit an unknown key and suddenly a 2" x 4" square is magnified centered on
the cursor (NOT the 'magnifier' across the top of the screen.)

Which key enables and which key disables this option?

Rebooting seem the only way to disable this magnifier.

Without more info and not being able to see it, Sounds like the Magnifier Settings
which should have an Exit button. If the magnifier is active and you want to
alternatively close it, right click in the magnified area and click Exit.

Still the screen magnifyer - or so it sounds to me. The magnification
screen *does not* have to be located at the top - it can be a free-floating
thing.

To be sure it is the Windows Magnifier - Open your TASK MANAGER
(CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and look under the processes tab (organize by name) and
find "magnify.exe" <-- if you see it - chances are it is the Windows XP
Magnifier.

Hi anon

If you have a mouse with extra buttons and you're using Intellipoint
software or similar. . . it could well be your mouse. Magnify is one of
the functions you can assign and you may be accidentally clicking
the button and turning it on. You turn it off by clicking the same
button again :) Check by opening the mouse properties from the
Intellipoint desktop shortcut, if you have one, Start Menu | Programs or
Control Panel |Mouse.
