I have an annoying problem with my video display that I
can't resolve. From time-to-time the screen image will
jitter or jump up and down or otherise move in a non-
rational way. In a moment of brilliance I reasoned that I
must be prey to some virus but neither Panda or AVG have
identifies any etant viruses. Any ideas?

Bless your heart, I don't think this has anything to do with a virus.
Rather, you probably have some interference near your monitor (perhaps
someone is turning on another device set too closely to the monitor),
or your monitor is going, or your video card is going. Unless the
jittering happens while doing the same thing in the same program all
the time, the cause is probably not software. Random failures are
usually caused by faulty hardware. You can try updating the video card
drivers from the card mftr.'s website, but I would first 1) attach your
computer to a different, known-working monitor; 2) if the problem
persists, swap out the video card. After you've done that bit of
troubleshooting, if the problem persists please repost. Be sure to
include information about your systems specs, make/model of video card
and monitor, and what you've already done to troubleshoot.

Interesting idea. The monitor is a new Dell 1901fp flat panel and the video
card is a Radeon 9100. Naturally there's a snake's nest of cable running
below my desk including the wireless transmitter so perhaps that is the
cause but it doesnt feel that way. That is it the shaking seems to be
occuring at the softwrae level --the entire image is not shaking just
portions of it. For example if I am looking at mail (outlook express) the
slider will move up and down rapdily and the text within the pane or the
list of messages moves with it but the window (OE or the open message)
itself with menus, toolbars etc does not move.
