Screen goes blank when logging out of XP

I just cobbled together a PC. Specs are:

CPU: Athlon 64 3000+
Mobo: ECS K8M800-M2
RAM: 2x 512MB PC3200
OS: Win XP SP2 + updates

I am using on-board graphics; it shows up as VIA/S3G Unichrome in Device
Manager. BIOS and drivers are up-to-date as per ECS's web site.

Interesting problem. I have one Administrative and one Limited Access
user defined on the system. When I log out after a session as either
Administrator or the administrative user, all goes well. However, when I
log out as the user with limited rights, the screen goes blank, with a
small cursor blinking in the top left corner. The only recourse is for
me to do a hard reset.

Any ideas, folks?

Yup: The settings for what to do when you press the power button. There
are also options for what happens when you press the sleep button and
all. Because these singals can be mixed up with certian hardware, make
sure they are all set to "Turn off the computer".

It is possible that these settings are diffirent and can be redefined
for each user.
