Screen Captures

Tom

I need to create documentation on logging in to a Windows domain and how to
change passwords in 2K & XP. I need screen shots of the Login dialog box
and the Windows Security box (Ctrl-Alt-Del). How do I capture these screens
or does anyone have generic image files I could use??

I've tried Alt-Prt Scr / Prt Scr but it doesn't work.

Thanks,
Tom

I use a program called CAPTURE by AnalogX www.analogx.com
because it allows the image to be saved the way you want,
you pick the folder, whether to capture the desktop or just
the top window, etc, FREE

Shift-PrtScn or Alt+Shift PrtScn saves one picture ata time
to the clipboard, it will be over-written with the next
image. You have to do the shift prtscn, then paste into
PAINT or some other program. You can paste a series into
WORD.

With CAPTURE, you'll have an icon in the system tray and can
snap a series which will be saved to a folder, you can open
and edit them later.

Thanks Jim but the normal screen capture programs don't work for the screens
I need.

I need the login screen and the Windows Security box (when you press
Ctrl-Alt-Del).

Tom,
Have you tried Gadwin PrintScreen. It's FREE; and to activate you press the
"PrintScrn" key.
Go here: http://www.gadwin.com/download/
I'm not too sure about the login screen; but I know it works with the Task
Manager screen (Ctrl-Alt-Del).

Thanks Lanny. It didn't work directly either but I went into Terminal
Services and made the copy that way.

Thanks again,
Tom

Tom you don't need any other program other than XP.
After you click PrintScreen or Alt+prtscr, go to Start>All Programs>
Accessories>Paint
Open Paint>click Edit>then Paste.........voila!...there's your screen. Now
you can
edit, crop, print, whatever.

Tom,
You may be able to use (Ctrl+PrintScrn) to copy your whole Login screen to
the Windows clipboard. Then go into your Windows Paint program to edit the
picture. I know that (Alt+PrintScrn) will copy any current open Window
(Task Manager) to the clipboard. This also is editable in the Windows Paint
program.

In either case, do the screen capture. Then open the Paint Program, and
press (Ctrl+V) to insert the screen capture into the Paint program.

As I said earlier, I use Gadwin for some pretty hefty graphics editing. I
use (Ctrl+PrintScrn) and (Alt+PrintScrn) for quick and dirty screen
captures.

Hope this helps.
