First, did you try to go back to the 256MB of ram? and if this works,
make sure that your MB will support 1 GB of ram, can't see any reason
why a late model MB would not, but it's possible.
Second, make sure all the ram modules are in the right slots and seated
correctly.
Third, take out one stick of ram at a time, one may be faulty or they
are just incompatible.
Good luck

First, never install more than one thing at a time; they like to
step on each other's toes.
Second, disconnect from the internet and turn off antivirus
when you do installs of any kind.

Disconnect the drive power and data, etc., cables so it's no
longer present.

Put RAM back to the original 512 you had. Be sure to use the
exact same slots and orientation it was in originally.

If it works again, great. If not: Get the machine working again
that way.

Then RTFM first and upgrade the RAM. You might have to change a
system BIOS setting to recognize it all. It might have to go in
certain slots. Sometimes RAM has to be in pairs of chips if
there are more than one. That's why RTFM is important.

Do a Cold Boot (start from Power Off).

Restart, and:
Then after that RAM all works, RTFM and install the new drive.
Again you might have to set some system BIOS settings. It'll
probably go much, much smoother this time, assuming you get the
right IDE channel, load any necessary drivers, etc..

NEVER install multiples of things at the same time.

Make note of the beeps you get on boot-up, and let us know.
Like two quick beeps or one beep, etc.
Also I am sure that if your machine did? work before the "upgrade"
then it is something very simple, like you have dislodged the vide
card or the cable to the monitor or something silly like that. Chec
the ALL cables and connectors!
But first listen to the beeps and remember them, they are telling yo
about your hardware problems on bootup.
Actually you can look up the beep codes yourself on the internet (usin
an other computer).

Check all cable connections. Put memory back to original configuration.

If this fails to fix it, contact a reputable repair shop for advice. You
probably burned out something.

Hey bud, if you are still having problems with your screen, are you getting
any graphics at all? Have you checked your graphics card to see if it is not
ruined?
