Screen appears smaller after NVIDA driver update

Using the standard Windows Update procedure I installed
the recommended driver update:
"NVIDIA display software update released on May 03 2002."
Perhaps my eyes are fooling me but my display now appears
smaller. It switches correctly between all resolutions but
the overall size of the window does not seem to fill the
monitor, there is black space on either side of the
window. The monitor is a DELL P780 and the display adapter
is NVIDIA RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro. Is there an adjustment that
I'm missing? Can this UPDATE be easily removed so that I
can confirm the reduced display size? Suggestions?

Try changing the monitor refresh rate. I'll bet that the new driver set it
back to 60 Hz. Setting it to 75 Hz. will probably fill the screen.
