Scratching and sniffing

Every once in a while, I hear this sound coming from the
speakers......sounds like a small dog scratching and sniffing.
Anybody else heard this?

Not since my dog passed away...hummm...well, do you have a sound card, or
integrated sound? How old are your speakers? Is the plug end possibly bad?

No.....None of those........and the sniffing and scratching always sounds
exactly the same......like its a computer file playing.

I also get a sound from my speakers, when the volume is set at
maximum. This is more like a hum, though it also sounds like
scratching sometimes.
