School networking help

I have just inherited the job of school technology coordinator. I can take a
computer apart and resolve common software issues in my sleep. However, I
know very little about networking. They assured me that our district person
would take care of most network issues and teach me what I needed to know.
However, he never seems to be able when I need him. Is there a place on the
web where I can go to learn the basics? I'm a fast learner and good at
researching solutions, but at this point I don't know what to look for.
