Scheduling Frustration

To start out I'm as new as they come when it comes to spreadsheets.
I've heard that a spreadsheet would be a good solution to my problem s
I decided to give it a try.

My wife works in a bakery/deli for a local supermarket. For year
she's had to hand write the schedule for her department. I've decide
to try and help save her time doing this, but it's become to
complicated. Let me try to explain what I'm trying to do.

1. Add up the hours
I figured out for the most part how to do this. However, I'm having
hard time subtracting lunch breaks since they add that into th
schedule, but lunch breaks aren't counted as paid time.

Let's say Emp 1's Week looked like this:
Sun Off, Mon 8am - 5pm, Tues 2:30pm - 9pm, Wed 9am - 1pm, Thurs Off
Fri 8am - 5pm, Sat 8am - 5pm.

I need it to add up the hours per day. If it's 6 hours or more I nee
it to subtract a half hour or a whole hour. So, if a worker is liste
8am - 5pm = 9 it'd subtract 1 hour. However, if a worker worked 2:30p
- 9pm = 6.5 hours it'd need to subtract 30 minutes for lunch.

As you'll see by my worksheet I'm not doing well and I'm having to g
about it the long way.

2. Sunday pay/Holiday pay
Those that work on Sunday make an additional $1 per hour. To add u
the total cost per employee per week it needs to add in Sunday's pay.
Holidays is another story and I'm not going to even try tackling tha
yet.

3. Days Off
I'm not really happy with the way this appears on my schedule. For on
thing I think it's messing up the calculations. I still need t
indicate on the printout days that employees are off. An
suggestions?

Well, that's all for now. Thanks in advance for any help and/o
suggestions.

Respectfully,
Gar
