Excel Formula help

I have 5 rows of 12 cells. Each Cell contains a drop down list with about 15
options.

I want a formula that basically says "if (any of each of the 60 above
mentioned cells, looked at separately) = "any one of the drop down list
items" then - 1.

Basically it's a daily planner that accounts what my reps do each hour,
(Monday 8am - 8pm is A1 to A12, Tuesday is B1 to B12...) and if they choose a
drop down list item for the 4-5pm Monday slot, or cell A12, I want to
subtract an hour from what they committed to for the week so they can see how
many hours they have left to committ to that particular drop down item.

Doable?

Assuming no data(formula) in cells A1:E12 prior to drop down.....

Uncommitted hours =COUNTBLANK(A1:E12)
