scheduled tasks not running...

hoping someone can help.

I scheduled disk defragmenter and disk cleanup and they aren't running. I'm
getting the status: the scheduled task did not run because an incorrect
password or user name was entered.

If it's of consequence, my virus protection is McAfee. I checked the log
and that seems to be running fine. I tried to manually run disk defrag and
disk cleanup (right click> Run) and nothing happened. I'm the sole user of
my desktop and don't know about a user password (It's a Dell), but if I was
required to enter a password when I started the computer, I would have used
the same standard password that I use for such things.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (I checked the XP resources and
couldn't solve, although I'm a newbie and was leary of anything advanced).

To use scheduled tasks:
1 - your user account has to be password protected(blank doesn't work)
2 - you must use the same password and user name when setting up the task.

.Try Deleeting the task and reboot.

Hi,

This seems to help for many users:

A scheduled task can be run without passwords:

For Pro: Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security
Policy/Local Policies/Security options. In the right hand pane (third down).

Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only.
This is enabled by default, disable it.

For Home: Run Scheduled Task without a Password (Line 67)
