Running Tasks

Andy

I have created a task to run defrag whenever the computer idles for more
than 5 minutes but it don't do it. it says last run 'never' and it says 'the
scheduled task did not run because an incorrect password or username was
entered' - but I don't use a password to log onto windows so I left the
password box blank.

any idea please?

Thanks,

Andy.

Scheduled tasks need a password. Blank passwords are not
acceptable.

IMHO it is not a good idea to defrag your disk continuously.
Defragging is quite an involved process that rearranges critical
files on the hard disk. Things can and do go wrong, as we see
in this newsgroup once every so often. Furthermore there is
no benefit whatsoever in frequent defragging. Having a completely
defragged file system may appeal to your sense of aesthetics
but it will not improve your PC's performance. Defragging the
disk once a month is plenty, and even then you need a stop
watch to spot the difference.

Thanks I will just carry on defragging it once a month then.

Andy.
