Hi Kevin,

That has always bothered me too, but to date I have not seen
mention of the magic reg key to allow task scheduler service
to run yet have this not advertised. At least it is only accessible
by admin accounts !!

This has been annoying me all day now.

I have just located the following web page which has a fix for Window
2000:

http://tinyurl.com/2j9gl

Removing Auto shares:
Start regedit and go t
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

set (create if it doesn't exist) AutoShareWks = 0 (REG_DWORD)
set (create if it doesn't exist) AutoShareServer = 0 (REG_DWORD)
Go to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management
Shared Folders / Shares
Remove all shares you don't need, especially all ending with '$
(except IPC$), by selecting Stop Sharing from the context menu.
Restart the computer and check (from where you removed them) that th
shares you removed are gone.

Removing Scheduled Tasks and Printers:
Start regedit and go t
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpac

Deleting "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" removes the Schedule
Tasks entry
Deleting "{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}" removes the Printer
entry

These registry entries seem to be present on XP and I've just delete
them but can't reboot yet as I'm running a looooooong process.

Give it a try too if you like. I recommend playing safe like me an
exporting that registry key first though in case of any problems

To remove scheduled tasks and printers from shared folder isn't rell
necessary to delete anything at all in the registry.. as EvilOverlor
say.Just change the parameters.
Start regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace
Right click on "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" (wich is th
scheduled task)
and and select "permissions".
Then select the users wich shouldn't have acces to it, and selec
"advanced" .
Now all you have to do is select the options as you wish.. (denny o
allow) to change the acces to this file.
If u are not confident on what u are doing...export reg key first. An
create an "System restore" point.
That's all.
Best regards
