Scheduled send/receive does nothing

I have a send/receive scheduled every five minutes and I
do not have the "disable automatic send/receive" option
enabled as Microsoft points out to be the problem. I send
a test message from another account and wait out the five
minutes and outlook never attempts to check for mail. I
then open outlook and do a manual receive and all the test
messages come in. I've done this many times and outlook
just will not do it on it's own. I am always connected
via cable internet and have no problems sending and
receiving manually. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
 
What version of Outlook do you have? What sort of mail account(s)?
