Scheduled scans

Does anyone know if the scheduled scans run even when the
user is logged off of the computer? It doesn't seem to
log the scheduled scans in the scan history, only the
manually run scans. Also, if the scheduled scans are
being run even when the user is logged off, is there any
way to view the scan results in the scan history? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
