Scheduled backups naming conventions

I am going to be setting up automatic scheduled backups on our server to an
Ultrium drive. I want to back up 3 times a week, with three full backups on
each cartridge (I don't want to use incrementals). I have 5 cartridges.

Has anyone come up with a logical naming scheme for the tasks and jobs?

In the past I've always used the default when running it manually:
Media created 01 Dec 04 at 4:30 PM, Set created 01 Dec 04 at 4:30 PM, etc
but I want to schedule the task to run a new tape every Friday evening
followed by appends on Monday and Wednesday evening, with 5 weeks of tapes.
I call the tapes #1, #2, etc

Since the scheduled task will run weekly, but the tape changes, what's a
good way to naming scheme for the tasks, and the .bks file it requires since
they are not date dependent?

Thanks,
Mich

I strongly recommend NOT appending. If a tape goes bad, you loose multiple backups.

That said, see tip 2265 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com for the Friday job.

If you wish to append, on the other days, use RSM to retireve the tape name.
See tip 5955. The media variable contains the label.
See tip 3460
