Scheduled backups do not run

M

M Skabialka

I have tried several times to schedule a backup to run in the evening on our
Win 2000 server, but despite taking great pains to ensure that every entry
is accurate and complete, the task never runs. I schedule it using the
Scheduled tasks tab in Backup, then go into the actual task and add /um to
the command line, but there is nothing in the Event log, and the task says
"Could not start".

I have no problems with manual backups, but would like to make it automatic
when I am out of the office.

What could be wrong here? Is there a step I am missing, though I have taken
great care to answer every prompt in the wizard?

Thanks,
Mich

I did not know there was a log there! Thanks.

"18 Nov 5pm #4.job" (NTBACKUP.EXE) 11/18/2004 5:00:01 PM ** ERROR **

The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task
failed, therefore, the task did not run.

The specific error is:

0x80070775: The referenced account is currently locked out and
may not be logged on to.

Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and
try again.

Anyway, last week I did get locked out and had to reset the password - could
this have been caused by the scheduled task? I had no idea at the time what
caused the lockout.

Yes, if the password specified for the task was an old or incorrect one.
