scanning a document into excel

Help!!! I am trying to scan a document into excel and
cannot do it. The all in one machine I have does not allow
me to save it as .xls file. Can anyone help me? I have
also contacted Lemark for help but it could take 1
business day for a reply. Thank you.

scan it as text and import the text into excel (just open the txt file and
the import text wizard will open)
