Scanned Documents

I am looking for software that will allow me to scan a
spreadsheet into Excel and then manipulate the data. Most
documents scan into Word and the columns created require
so much work that it is easier to recreate in Excel.
Suggestions?

Linda -

You need Optical Character Reader (OCR) software like
OmniPage Pro. When you scan using this software, you can
define what to expect - like Table format, List, do not
scan this area, etc. When the software expects a table,
it will import it as a table (columns, rows)
