scanning 35mm slide problem

I have a new Visioneer 8920 flatbed scanner and it works well.
However, I decided to try the transparancy scan of a 35mm slide.
I have the mask and slide on the glass perfectly and have followed the
directions in the manual.

Here is the pop up error I get:
<quote>
Transparancy Adaptor (TA)error.
Verify the white lid insert is removed, the TA plugged in, and the black
insert is correctly placed on the scanner bed.
<unquote>

I took off the underneath plate of the top hinged cover to see if there was
a lamp there that might be burned out. I saw no lamp but a small circuit.

An expensive service charge phone call to Visioneer is prohibitive for me.

Any ideas welcomed.

Plug in the TA, unplug the USB cable, remove power from the scanner.

Turn on Scanner plug in USB cable, open TWAIN driver in a Photo Editor.

The problem often is the TA is not plugged in when you first are using the
scanner, then decide to plug in the TA. The scanner and the software does
not know that you plugged in the TA until you reboot.

Mucho thanks Carl. I really appreciate the quick fix and will give it a try
tonight.
Sounds good.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I keep the scanner power switch off
unless I am using it. I have also, in the past, disabled the Visoneer
OneTouch Monitor that starts up when my computer boots into Windows XP.

Too bad you can't fix my flshlight too. :)
