Scanners not recognized

M

Mark Cary

Due to circumstances, I have been required to UPGRADE
from Windows 2000 Professional to XP Professional.

This was NOT a clean install.

There were NO incompatabilities found by the XP check
prior to the upgrade.

All service packs and updates have been made.

Control Panel/Scanners and Cameras "SEES" and allows me
to choose either my Brother MFC 4800 or my Epson
Perfestion 2400 Photo to scan items to BMP, JPG, etc.

This is good.

All applications, Adobe Professional 6.0.2, Paperport
8.2, etc, do not "SEE" any scanning devices. What's
more, several of the applications simply lock up and
require a Task Manager "End Process" to be performed.

One clue, when performing an "End Process" on Adobe, is a
process that is not responding, listed as:

Adobe:Adam:Twain:DSM:Thread

It is going to be a huge ordeal if I have to "clean
install" the remaining computers at my company!

Please ... someone has to KNOW, rather than just have an
idea ... I've searched for the past 48 hours with no luck.

Hello

Well main question is does your scanner support XP and
doing an upgrade sometime creates more problems thn
doing a full install.

Hi Mark -

See the following MS Knowledge base article:

Check the manufacturer website for the scanners for Windows XP-compatible
Twain drivers.

Also, from your text above, it appears you have two Twain scanners connected
to the system. Windows XP does not support this. See the following MS
Knowledge base article:
