Scanner problems

I have a Umax scanner and cannot get it to work with XP
Prof. XP finds the scanner and installs the drivers but
when I try and scan a picture the scanner does not scan
and I get a black image saved. Any ideas anyone?

Have you tried the scanner on any other computer? The symptom you describe
is often associated with a defective power supply. If your Umax scanner has
it's own power connection, try the scanner on another computer and see if
you have the same issue. NOTE: it may not always show as a black image, it
may show washed out colors instead.
