Hi

Try disconnecting the scanner, then installing the software. The setup
program will tell you when to re-connect the scanner.

Have you visited Canon's site and downloaded the latest driver? If you're
using the disc that came with the scanner it won't work as that unit is far
too old for the drivers to be on the CD.
