Scanner Problem

WinXp Pro
I have a Canon 630U USB scanner.
It shows in Device Manager but my programs don't see it. When my system boot
up it does't react like it used to. (no lights no partial cycle)

Is this a window problem or is scanner toast?

Did you bother to install the TWAIN compliant driver from *Canon*? Are
you selecting the TWAIN scanner inside your unnamed application?

Are you using the *right* driver for the version of Windows that you are
