Scanner not working with Vista

I have just installed Vista and my Epson Perfection 1660 scanner won't work.
Epson tells me it is "not supported" and drivers are not available for this
set up. They suggested I try to get them from their Canadian site (I am in
the US). I also tried the UK site, at someone else's suggestion, and that
didn't help either.

Seems to me this might be a bit like Ford Motor Company ceasing supplying
parts for cars over 4 years old when they bring out new models.

Can anyone help me to save a few bucks by getting this thing to work?

Thank you for any help.

Hi Seems your scanner drivers will be available soon in the form of a
windows update keep checking

Wouldn't there be a more appropriate forum for discussions about drivers for
scanners than one called microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

I suggest you post this issue in microsoft.pulic.windows.vista.hardware_devices.

Your issue is with Epson, not with Microsoft.
The lack of drivers for older scanners is one reason why I dual-boot
between Vista and XP.

Thank you for the suggestion which I shall follow up. As a complete
computer ignoramus and non technical person all I require is for these
contraptions to work effortlessly when I switch it on and use it. I am not
in the slightest bit interested in how the damn thing works. Just work, is
all I ask. I am not familiar with what appears to be a form of restricted
protocols when asking questions in any particular forum but if, as it
appears, I have wrinkled the nose of the esoteric intelligencia who lurk in
these areas, accept my apologies.

To Mr. Johnson, who had the polite courtesy to make a helpful comment
despite my "incorrect" manner of communication , thank you and likewise to
van der Molen for the same reason.

Now that I know it exists, I'll try my luck in the suggested forum.
Presumably the word pulic in van der Molen's reply should read public.

Yes. The "b" key on my keyboard doesn't always register.
