Scanner good - software bad.

I'm on my third scanner and my second HP scanjet scanner. The present
is a little faster than the previous 2200c but the real slowdown is
the software. All of my use is document scanning into Paperport 9.0.
I want default of 300dpi and B&W mode. Even though the HP software
seems to have setup for default resolution and such, it always is at
200dpi and color and when changed to 300 and BW, reverts back on each
new scan.

Is there a better software package so I can uninstall the HP dud? It
seems to prefer to do pictures and I only do documents.

I do not have a HP scanner, but at a guess, look for an .ini file for the
scanner driver. This file is probably in the Program folder for the scanner
driver. Edit the default DPI and mode setting if there is one in the file.
Wordpad is a good editor to use on .ini files.

Backup the file before changing.

Good suggestion. I looked but no line refering to DPI, resolution or
anything looking related.
