Scanned document into Word and now text appears in textboxes

How do I remove the textboxes while retaining the text in the document.
Taking into consideration that this is a fairly large document and having to
cut the text from the textbox and pasting it into another document is a
long-winded process. Is there a quicker solution?

There is a solution involving a macro, but it'll probably just lead to a
bigger mess. The macro can convert each text box to a frame and then remove
the frame. The problem is that the text it contains will be deposited in the
body of the document wherever the anchor of the text box happened to be.
That might put it in the right place, but it could drop it almost anywhere
on the page, depending on what the OCR program did. The job of re-ordering
the text could easily take as long a cut/paste would.

Before pursuing this path, I'd look at the OCR program's options to see if
you can turn off the feature that tries to preserve page layout. If you can
get a properly arranged stream of plain text with only character-level and
paragraph-level formatting, then the quickest path to a usable document will
be to re-scan the document with that setting.
