Scanned docs

Scanner: HP 6100c, Windows XP Home.

When I attach a scanned document to an email message,
double clicking on the attachment opens a blank screen.
When I open the attachment from my hard drive, it opens
fine. The attachment's icon is the blue e associated with
Internet Explorer. Any deas?

What is the three letter file extension after the period in the file name of
the attachment? Some scanner software defaults to saving the scan in a
proprietary format, unless you specify which format you want the scan
converted to.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, that was
it. I had to associate a suitable viewer for the file.
