How can I do a scandisk in windows XP Pro? I cannot get
to a dos prompt as I am useing a new blue tooth keypad
and mouse and tapping the f8 key does nothing. I have
tried this with the F Lock on and off. There are no
lights on the key board so you can't tell what's on or
off.

Hi, Mel.

First of all, there is no ScanDisk in WinXP. Use Chkdsk, either from a
"DOS" window, a Run prompt, or by right-clicking on the drive in My Computer
and then Properties | Tools | Check Now.

The reason you can't get a DOS prompt when booting WinXP is because there is
no DOS in WinXP. However, there are two DOS emulators, which you can run
after WinXP is loaded. There are several ways to invoke the "DOS" window;
my favorite is click Start | All Programs | Accessories | Command prompt.
Well, actually, my favorite is to drag that label to make a shortcut icon in
the Quick Launch Toolbar.
