Scandisk

Whenever I try to run Scandisk on boot it reports that it
Cannot Open Volume For Direct Access. Scandisk also
does not run within windows either. Any ideas? Would it
have anything to do with NTFS file permissions?

Windows XP has a "Checkdisk" error-checking utility that replaced
the old "Scandisk" utility in previous versions of Windows. For best
results, perform a Disk Cleanup before running Checkdisk, then defrag
your hard drive.
