scandisk won't run

I can't run Scandisk from Accessories/Maintenance program
group. It shows the program, allows me to Open it, but
won't run. What should I do?

group. It shows the program, allows me to Open it, but
won't run. What should I do?

1) "Scandisk" is not an option in Windows XP
2) "chkdsk" is the program used to check disk volumes in Windows XP
3) What do you mean "won't run"? Does the program even start? If so, does
it tell you that the it can't operate on the disk because it is in use? If
so, just reboot, and chkdsk will start when you reboot.
