Scan disk runs on startup. PC SLOW

Mike

I just reformatted my hard drive due to a virus. The
virus had been removed. I reinstalled XP but now computer
starts very slow and on startup on bottom of screen a line
goes across screen (like on your tv when turning up
volume). Xp then loads (takes 10 minutes) my broadband is
still fast but programs take forever to load/run and my
hard drive in near empty due to reformat. My memory is
fine at 512mb. Does anyone know what could be wrong. I
tried running scan disk but it never finishes. Gets to
last stage and stops. Im thinking my hard drive may be
bad but I would like to try other fixes first. Anyone
help?

If youre hd is near empty after a recent format something is wrong,i
should have more space than ever.try going to run, type:cm
At the curser type:DiskPart then,list drives,then,list volum
Maybe you reloaded xp onto another partition or xp created one, with a driv
of 30 GB,a new xp install after reforematting, you should have 90% available
If DiskPart shows something unwanted, boot to xp cd,repair, type in,DiskPar
in repair to delete the unwanted. When youre thru type:EXI
Either way running in cmd type:CHKDSK C: /R after any of the changes do o
dont take place for a fix.
