Dear all,

I couldn't find Scan Disk tools in XP. Do you know where
is it? Is the tools not included in XP again? Could you
give me a solution how can I check my hard drive?

Thank you,
Hansen

Hi Hansen,

It has been renamed. The available tools can be found here: Windows
Explorer/Right click a hard drive/Properties/Tools.

It's not scandisk, it's chkdsk in XP. Right-click on the drive icon in My
Computer, select Properties, go to Tools and click on Chek Now under Error
Checking.

Dear Kelly and Gordon,

Thank you for the help. I found it now.

You're welcome - and I just noticed that dam spell checker failed AGAIN...
:-)

No, it hasn't been renamed. Scandisk has NEVER existed in ANY version
of NT. There is a program called chkdsk that performs what scandisk
performs, but in a different manner. It is NOT scandisc renamed.

Chkdsk has always existed in NT.

Greetings --

WinXP does not have a program called "Scandisk," as this was a
Win9x/Me program. Instead, because WinXP is descended from the
WinNT/2K OS family, it has a command line utility called "Chkdsk,"
which performs much better, as it's not burdened with presenting a
pretty picture of moving blocks of color while it's working.

Start > Run > Chkdsk.exe /? for the correct syntax and available
options.

Alternatively, double-click My Computer > right-click the desired
hard drive > Properties > Tools > Error-checking/Check Now. This will
run Chkdsk, normally on the next reboot.

Perhaps Kelly meant "renamed" in a manner of speaking...
No need to make a court case out of it, NM.
