System
Dell 2650 P4 Laptop running Windows XP Home Ed + SP 1
NewLink PCMCIA 2 Port Firewire 1394/1394a compliant (Card works a dream with a Sony HC40 Camcorder
ICYBOX External Housing USB 2.0/IEEE 1394 with 200GB Maxtor 7,200rpm 8MB Cache (Externally Powered

On pluging in the ICYBOX unit into the PCMCIA Firewire Card the Windows system kicks into gear and tries to install a Prolific PL3507 Combo Device (1394-ATAPI Rev 1.10
Windows seems to access the file SBP2port.sys from it's CAB file, then tells me it's not a certified driver and subsequently displays the following "Driver is not intended for this platform

I plug the PCMCIA Card and External Drive into clockwork PII 400 Time Laptop running Windows ME and it installs fine except for the fact it wants to format the external drive due to it being formatted in NTFS rather that FAT32

Therefore I can only conclude that Windows XP (or just Win XP) has a problem with the device using this driver, is there an update or patch

Any idea

It may be because the drive is ntfs, but it shouldn't
matter.

Just use the drivers that came with your hard ware to
install it. You shouldn't need any special files or
updates. If you do, contact the manufacturer of the
product and they will direct you more precisely
