You do two things. Go to View > Toolbars and check to see if the PDFMaker
5.0 Toolbar is checked.

2. Go to Tools > Customize > Toolbar (tab), check the PDFMaker 5.0 toolsbar.

I'm not sure that Acrobat 5.0 is compatible with Word 2003. It seems to me
that I heard this required an upgrade to 6.0 but I could be mistaken.

Check in the old Word startup folder for your previous version and see if
there is a template there from Adobe. If so, try moving it to your Word 2003
startup folder.

The PDFMaker.dot add-in needs to be in the Office start-up folder, the
location of which is different for Word 2003. The upgrade to Word 2003
should have moved the file to the correct folder, but in some circumstances
it doesn't and as Acrobat 5 predates Word 2003, its programmers did not take
account of the new folder information.
The default folder for Office 2003 is
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP
so move pdfmaker.dot to that folder.
Charles mentioned that he thought Acrobat 5 was incompatible - it isn't, but
you will need the latest upgrade for it to work.

If you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat and not just the Reader, you
should be able to click "Tools", "Templates and add-ins" and check the
available PDF maker template. If you only have the reader, you need to
purchase the full version of Acrobat to have this functionality. I hear
there are other after-market software options out there for making PDFs.
maybe someone else will pop in with info.

You can't unless you own Adobe Acrobat (not Acrobat reader). If you do,
contact Adobe, they may have a place for you to download or other
suggestions.

If you have the full version of Acrobat, installing that application will
put a copy of the add-in in a sub folder of the application folder as well
as the required copy in the Office startup folder. You need the latest
update from Adobe to use Acrobat 5 with Word 2003.
