Saving Word Documents

I use Windows XP. Whenever I open a previously created
Word document and then close it, I am asked if I want to
save the changes. This happens even when I have NOT made
any changes to the document, and every time I close it,
the same question appears. How do I get rid of this
annoying and useless question? Thanks.

The Windows version is irrelevant. If this is Word 2002, see "WD2002: You
Are Prompted to Save Changes When You Close a Document Even Though You Have
