Saving to DV Tape on Sony TRV19

I'm having a problem. I'm able to import video through my
firewire connection, edit it, and save it as DV-AVI on my
own hard drive. However, when trying to save back to the
tape, I can't find a single thing that works.

I was first trying windows movie maker. I clicked on the
send to dv camera link and followed the dialogue options.
The camera was in vcr mode. Everything seems to work (the
program builds the temporary file, finishes and then starts
the recording fuction on the camera), except for two
things: first, the program never stops the camera from
recording, and secondly, there is no image on the DV
screen. Oh, and there is nothing actually captured by the
camera.

I then tried WinDV. It doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

Cari,

Thanks for your response. I am not in Europe. I am
corresponding with Sony, but they are being... less than
helpful. They can't seem to grasp the concept that I'm not
having problems capturing FROM the camera, but sending back
TO the camera.

I've noticed in scanning these newsgroups and Papa John's
webpage that others have had similar problems with Sony
cameras specifically, but I can't find anything where
someone comes back and posts a solution... if they find one
at all. That is most unfortunate.

Anyway, if you have any other ideas, please let me know,
and again, thanks for your response.

are you sure your camcorder is dv in/dv out ?
Is quite strange because I never success to transfer
video from my pc to my Sony trv730 using Studio DV but
it's work via movie maker except that I loose the first 5
second of my work ???!!

Check with Sony. If you are in Europe, DV-in is often not enabled in
European versions of digital camcorders.

I too am having trouble recording my finished movie on
my Sony PC 100 E from my Sony RX1 using Movie Maker 2.
The edited movies look fine on the PC but the moment I
try and record them on DV tape the image corrupts, breaks
up and is useless. I have engaged DV IN/OUT on the
camcorder. Any other suggestions. Also can I burn a DVD
burner to play back on my TV DVD by buying a burner as I
only have DVD play function on my RX1? Any suggestions
would be welcome?

I am in Canada and having the problem as well. There are
A LOT of people having this problem. Haven't seen any
solutions so far.

I should add that this isn't a moviemaker problem,
because troubles exist with all software. This is an
inherent firewire problem.
