saving to cd rom - read only

I have a PowerPoint presentation on a CD. When I try to
save revisions I'm told "can't sense folder is marked
read only. I then change the file name but again told
that that file is "read only" Deleting the read only
attribute doesn't work as it stays the same. Any help

um. you cant save to a CD, the media itself is Read Only...do u have a CD-RW
or a normal CD-R? RW is the only one that lets you ReWrite..

You cannot save to a cdrw directly unless you use packet writing software,
which xp does not have. With packet writing software the cd then acts like a
giant floppy disk. A regular cd-rw is always read-only, thus you cannot edit
the files directly on the cd. You would first copy the file off the cd, edit
it, then burn it back. A cd-r is always read-only and it is not rewriteable,
meaning once you burn a file to it, that's it, it's their for ever and can't
be changed.
Roxio and nero are the two most popular burning programs that do packet
writing.

Regardless of packet writing or not, the file attribute will be set to
r/o, even on a cdrw. When you "overwrite" the file, the original file
is removed from the TOC, but it's still there, taking up space; you
just can't see it. The only way to really remove a file is to
COMPLETELY erase the CDRW.
